The SPF (Sun Protection Factor) listed on a bottle of sunscreen is a measure of how well the product protects your skin from the sunburn. Sunburn, which damages the skin, can cause cancer and also result in premature aging.
SPF is mainly a measure of UV-B (the ultraviolet radiation from the sun that causes sunburn) protection.
